The Geometric Aspect

Many clothing worn by flappers had geometric patterns.

These geometric patterns reflected the improvisational aspect of jazz. [30] Flappers wore shorter clothes and shorter hair to make dancing easier. [31] Not only was clothing designs to make dancing easier, but clothing was also designed to reflect the rhythm of the jazz music. Fringes at the end of dresses made percussive sounds when the body danced and shiny fabrics would reflect off the light as one dance, reflecting the essence of the beat. [32] These new geometric inspired jazz trends were able to develop because women felt more independent, and confident about themselves.
